UKATA guidance on certification
UKATA Category A – Asbestos Awareness 3.5 Hour Course:
- If delegates have not already completed this course within the last 12 months they are eligible to attend this half day course.
- If delegates have already completed the initial 3.5 hour course within the last 12 months then they will be eligible to complete the new on-line Asbestos Awareness Refresher course or attend the next-available course at either of our centres.
UKATA Category B Non-Licensable Work with Asbestos is now broken down into three:
UKATA Category B1:
- This is the initial course where no previous Category A training has taken place
- A maximum of 6 delegates can attend the course
- The minimum duration of the course is 1.5 days – this covers the mandatory units of Category B and the Awareness session
- The maximum duration of the course is 2 days depending on training requirements.
- The UKATA certificate will last for 12 months, after which delegates will be required to complete UKATA Category B3
UKATA Category B2:
- This course is for those delegates who have completed Category A training within the last 6 months, and can provide copies of certification for this training
- A maximum of 6 delegates can attend the course
- The minimum duration of the course is 1 day – this covers the mandatory units of Category B. The maximum duration of the course is 1.5 days depending on training requirements.
- The UKATA certificate will last for 12 months, after which delegates will be required to complete UKATA Category B3
UKATA Category B3:
- This course is for those who have completed Category B1 or B2 within the last 12 months, and can provide copies of approved (UKATA or IATP) certification for this training
- A maximum of 6 delegates can attend the course
- The minimum duration of the course is 3 hours and will be based solely on the practical elements required
- The maximum duration of this course is 1 day
- The UKATA certificate will last for 12 months, after which delegates will be required to complete UKATA Category B3 again year on year unless they go over the 12 month expiry
- If delegates go over the 12 month expiry then UKATA Category B1 will be required in order to obtain a new certificate.
