Scaffold Awareness

Course Objectives:

This course is designed to give delegates the underpinning theoretical and practical knowledge to enable them to complete a safe to use inspection on a basic scaffold structure as defined by the NASC Technical Guidance TG20:13.

Course Content:

This course involves theory & practical training sessions over a 1 day culminating in an on-site practical assessment of a scaffold structure.

• Scaffold erection alteration & dismantling competence requirements
• Basic scaffold interpretation
• Common scaffold terminology
• Scaffold inspection criteria – including when & how to do it and recording it
• Handover certification

• Scaffold materials & common defects
• Foundations
• Types of ties
• Guard rails, Toe board, Brick guards
• Ladders
• Ropes, Knots & Hitches
• Raising & lowering loads
• Protection of the public
• Independent tied scaffolds
• Differing types of scaffolds
• On site practical scaffold inspections
• Theory knowledge test

On successful completion of the course delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who has the responsibility to ensure scaffold structures are safe to use, before use, on a daily basis. This course does not qualify the delegate to carry out the statutory recorded inspections.
