Intelligence indicates that further terrorist attacks in the UK are ‘highly likely’. Experience has shown that the threat comes not just from foreign nationals but also from individuals radicalised within Britain. It is therefore crucial that our counter-terrorism strategy includes measures to prevent radicalisation and stop individuals from engaging in extremist activities.
The Government’s Prevent strategy is a key part of the national counter-terrorism plan, aimed at reducing the risk of radicalisation and identifying individuals at risk. This course provides an overview of the strategy, explores the factors leading to radicalisation, and outlines actions to take if concerns arise. It also details the objectives of the Prevent strategy, how to adopt a risk-based approach, and the role of British values in counter-extremism efforts.
