Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the industry, the dangers of working in it, and their responsibilities as a plant operator.
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer's handbook & other sources of information, regulations & legislation for the particular machine to be used.
- Locate & identify major components of the vehicle & loader crane and explain their functions.
- Locate & identify steering, driving & braking controls & explain their functions.
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers & legislative requirements.
- Safely mount & dismount the machine.
- Start & stop the engine & safely move the machine off & stop it safely.
- Configure the machine for travel & manoeuvre it safely across varying terrain in open & confined areas.
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
- Manoeuvre the machine to the work area & configure it for processing tasks.
- Carry out processing tasks effectively.
- Load material onto transporting vehicles, containers, or processing plants.
- Fit & remove attachments safely & efficiently.
- Demonstrate knowledge & understanding of loading & unloading procedures for machine transportation.
- Carry out all end-of-shift & shutdown procedures.

Certification:
Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years. After that, a refresher course can be undertaken.
