Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Understand the industry, the dangers of working in the industry, and their responsibilities as a crane / lift supervisor.
- Explain the importance of locating & identifying different types of lifting equipment & lifting accessories, including their construction, uses, applications & functions.
- Demonstrate how to interpret & extract information on all relevant documentation.
- Explain & demonstrate diverse types of communication methods used for lifting purposes.
- Understand procedures for placing non-serviceable items out-of-service.
- Understand the functions & use of RCIs & anti-collision systems & use the information provided.
- Explain setting up, erection, levelling & dismantling requirements for diverse types of lifting equipment & lifts.
- Set up exclusion zone, explaining actions required for emergency actions & identifying overhead hazards.
- Identify potential hazards & unsafe lifting practices using different lifting scenarios.
- Ensure the security of various types of loads & lifting accessories, ensuring load balance & integrity.
- Supervise the movement of loads using various methods of communication.
- Explain all environmental considerations & how external factors affect the planning of the lifting operation.
- Carry out all ‘out of service’ & securing procedures.

Certification:
Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years. After that, a refresher course can be undertaken.
