Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Understand the industry, dangers, and responsibilities as an operator.
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the machine being used.
- Locate & identify major components of the machine and explain their functions.
- Locate & identify key controls and explain their functions.
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer & legislative requirements.
- Identify & maintain PPE appropriate for gritter & snowplough use.
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
- Prepare the gritter & snowplough for use and operate safely & efficiently.
- Attach & set trailers, mounted & PTO drives ready for operation.
- Understand environmental considerations.
- Storage & transport of implements & attachments.
- Demonstrate knowledge & understanding of loading & unloading procedures for machine transportation.
- Carry out all end-of-shift & shutdown procedures.

Certification:
On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years. A refresher course can be undertaken after that.
