Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Understand the industry, dangers of working in it, and responsibilities for rigging & fleeting loads tasks.
- Gain knowledge of manufacturers' handbooks, safety regulations (P.U.W.E.R, L.O.L.E.R, working at height, manual handling), and risk assessments.
- Operate & supervise rigging & fleeting loads by mechanical advantage over, around, and through obstacles safely in accordance with a lift plan pack.
- Lead and participate in toolbox talks with the team, communicating control measures in the risk assessment for specific tasks.
- Utilize a rigging store/loft in a controlled manner, using T Card systems for portable appliances and lifting equipment.
- Conduct pre-operational checks of equipment, load, route, and laydown area according to the written lift plan in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Assemble rigging and fleeting equipment safely to certified strong points, following manufacturers' guidelines.
- Supervise rigging and fleeting operations safely, following a step-by-step method statement in the lift plan pack.
- Remove rigging and fleeting equipment safely, returning it to the rigging loft, in accordance with site procedures.
- Conduct post-operational checks and ensure proper housekeeping procedures after completing the tasks.
- Participate in debrief meetings to discuss lessons learned with the lift team.
On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years, after which a refresher course can be undertaken.
