Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Understand the industry, dangers of working in the industry & responsibilities for rigging & fleeting loads tasks.
- Gain knowledge of manufacturers' handbooks and relevant safety regulations (P.U.W.E.R, L.O.L.E.R, working at height, manual handling, etc.).
- Operate & supervise rigging and fleeting loads safely with mechanical advantage as per lift plan packs.
- Lead tool box talks with the team, communicating control measures in the risk assessment for specific tasks.
- Utilize a rigging store/loft in a controlled manner, using T Card systems for portable appliances, accessories, lifting equipment.
- Select and operate lifting equipment in accordance with the written lift plan and safety standards.
- Conduct pre-operational checks of equipment, load, route, and laydown area according to lift plan requirements.
- Assemble rigging equipment safely to certified strong points, following manufacturers' guidelines and legislative requirements.
- Supervise rigging and fleeting operations safely by following the method statement in the lift plan pack.
- Remove rigging and fleeting equipment safely, returning it to the rigging loft according to guidelines and site procedures.
- Perform post-operational checks on equipment, ensuring compliance with site rules and maintaining good housekeeping.
- Participate in debrief meetings and discuss lessons learned with the lift team.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years. A refresher course can be undertaken after this period.
