Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a managerial understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry & their roles & responsibilities for rigging & fleeting loads tasks.
- Understand the manufacturers handbooks or guides for the equipment and be aware of relevant legislation like P.U.W.E.R, L.O.L.E.R, working at height, manual handling, and risk assessments.
- Calculate weights and ensure load weight accuracy while ensuring all CoGs, angles, and tensions are within the manufacturer's guidelines for safe rigging & fleeting of loads.
- Prepare risk assessments for rigging & fleeting loads covering basic, intermediate, and complex categories.
- Check the certification for lifting equipment, appliances, and accessories, and understand common tools, access egress items, and industry-specific definitions.
- Determine lifting equipment for the lift plan, rigging & material lists, and prepare a step-by-step method statement for safe rigging, including pickup points, routes, and laydown areas.
- Allocate team roles and responsibilities for riggers, supervisors & fixed appliance operators for various scenarios.
- Prepare sketches, scaled drawings, or add pictures to lift plans for better understanding and communication within the team.
- Oversee complex rigging tasks, ensuring the team follows the method statement in the lift plan pack.
- Liaise with management and supervisors through meetings, TBTs, PTW meetings, and site visits.
- Participate in debrief meetings and discuss lessons learned.
On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years. After this, a refresher course can be undertaken.
