Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Understand the managerial responsibilities, dangers of working in the industry, and their role in rigging & fleeting loads tasks.
- Know the manufacturer's handbooks, P.U.W.E.R, L.O.L.E.R, working at height, manual handling, risk assessments, and British/International standards.
- Calculate weights, CoG’s, angles, and tensions for safe rigging & fleeting of loads within the manufacturer's guidelines.
- Prepare risk assessments for rigging & fleeting loads covering basic, intermediate, and complex categories.
- Ensure lifting equipment certification is valid and understand tools, PPE, and access/egress items.
- Determine appropriate lifting equipment for lift planning and prepare method statements detailing safe approaches, routes, and laydown areas.
- Allocate roles and responsibilities for riggers, supervisors, and operators for complex scenarios.
- Prepare scaled sketches or diagrams for lift plans, ensuring all team members understand the operation’s details.
- Oversee complex rigging tasks, ensuring safety and adherence to method statements and lift plans.
- Participate in meetings, site visits, and debriefs to ensure all lifting operations are executed competently.
On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years. A refresher course can be undertaken after this period.
