Course Description

This course provides an in-depth exploration of modern slavery, with a particular focus on its impact in the UK. Modern slavery includes the recruitment, movement, harbouring or receiving of adults and children for the purpose of exploitation.

It is estimated that there are more than 130,000 victims of modern slavery in the UK. Throughout this course, real-life case studies will be presented to illustrate the various forms and consequences of modern slavery.

Modern slavery manifests in different forms, including:

• Forced labour
• Debt bondage
• Sexual exploitation
• Forced marriage
• Criminal exploitation

Participants will learn about the individuals most vulnerable to human trafficking, how traffickers recruit and control their victims, and the hidden signs of modern slavery.

The course will also cover reporting procedures, the role of the National Referral Mechanism, and how both government and businesses can help combat modern slavery. It will conclude with useful contact details for authorities and charities that support victims.
