This course starts by examining the fundamental techniques for the safe and proficient use of hand tools, aiming to maximise accuracy and ensure safety in everyday construction activities.

We will then explore the critical safety measures and operational procedures for power tools. This section is designed to equip employees with the knowledge to enhance their work efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

• Understand the complex and critical nature of electrical hazards in the construction workplace, including the definition and implications of electrocution hazards.
• Learn about the major types of electrocution hazards in construction, including contact with power lines and energised sources, and the consequences of improper use of extension and flexible cords.
• Explore critical precautions and strategies necessary to mitigate risks associated with power lines and electrical equipment, highlighting the importance of vigilance and proper safety measures.
• Gain knowledge on essential electrocution hazard prevention strategies, including the use of ground-fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs), regular inspection of tools and extension cords, and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures.
• Understand the responsibilities of employers in ensuring workplace safety, including maintaining safe distances from power lines, providing appropriate personal protective equipment, and establishing an Assured Equipment Grounding Conductor Programme (AEGCP).
