Course Objectives
This C&G Confined Spaces Medium Risk course is designed to reflect the national occupational standards for a medium-risk related confined space environment. The course covers both Water and Non-Water industry areas, preparing delegates to work safely in a wide range of confined spaces.
- Water Sector: Tasks may include working with potable water, sewage treatment processes, drain and sewer cleaning operations, or situations where the operative is working in or near water, or where a confined space is subject to surface water flooding.
- Non-Water Sector: Industries like pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, asbestos removal, vehicle manufacturing and servicing, aeronautical, construction, communications, power, utilities, gas, electrical and mechanical engineering, and some work operations in mines, quarries, and tunneling.
Course Content
The aims of this medium-risk confined spaces course are:
- Preparation for Safe Work in Medium-Risk Confined Spaces: Including equipment, authorisation, communications, safety zones, and monitoring equipment.
- Safe Entry and Exit: Including monitoring equipment, access equipment, safety inspection, procedures, and resolving problems or unsafe activity.
- Safe Use of Equipment and Tools: Covers checks, equipment usage, PPE, and post-use checks.
- Following Work Procedures: Including communication methods, safe working procedures, PPE, vigilance, and documentation/reporting.
