Course Description

This Workplace Accident Investigation course will provide the information you need to effectively analyse an accident and uncover its underlying and root causes.

We’ll start with statistics that show the extent and the main causes of death and injury in the workplace.

You’ll learn about Heinrich’s theory of industrial accident prevention and how to classify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and their associated hazards.

We’ll show you the correct way to record and report hazards and accidents, and how, and when to send reports to the relevant authorities.

The main four stages of an official accident investigation are described in detail:

• Preserving and documenting the scene of the accident.
• Collecting information.
• Determining underlying and root causes.
• Implementing corrective actions.

In these sections, we’ll also describe the roles and responsibilities of the people involved, and provide a range of practical tips and professional advice to help ensure the accident investigation reaches a successful conclusion.
