Abrasive Wheels (In Person)

Course Objectives

This course is designed to provide candidates with a practical understanding of the safe use of portable and handheld grinding wheels. It covers essential topics to ensure PUWER compliance training for abrasive wheels and adherence to HS(G)17 abrasive wheel safety standards.

Course Content

At the end of the course, delegates will have covered and understood the following:

• Hazards and risks associated with common activities related to abrasive wheels training.
• Precautions required for the safe use of grinding wheels in the workplace.
• Types of equipment and correct specification of wheels.
• Legal requirements for using grinding wheels under PUWER regulations.
• Principles of safe use of grinding wheels HS(G)17.
• The selection and use of suitable PPE for grinding wheels.
• Hazards arising from the use of abrasive wheels and how to prevent them.
• Methods of storing, handling, and transporting abrasive wheels safely.
• Inspection and maintenance checks for grinding wheels.
• Procedures for fitting of new wheels (Instructor demonstration and candidate practical session).
• The purpose and use of safety features, guards, and interlocks.
• Reporting of faults and incidents related to abrasive wheel usage.

Upon completion, delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance in abrasive wheels training.
