N802 Gritter & Snowplough Novice
Course Objectives:
It is envisaged that at the end of this course the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry & their responsibilities as an operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturers handbook for the particular machine to be used
- Be able to locate & identify the major components of the machine & explain their functions
- Be able to locate & identify key controls & explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufactures & legislative requirements
- Identify & maintain PPE appropriate for gritter & snowplough use
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Prepare the gritter & snowplough for use & operate safely & efficiently
- Attach & set trailers, mounted & PTO drives ready for operation
- Environmental considerations
- Storage & transport of implements & attachments
- Demonstrate knowledge & understanding of loading & unloading procedures for machine transportation
- Carry out all end of shift & shut down procedures
On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years, after which a refresher course can be undertaken.

N139 Forward Tipping Mini Dumper up to 1 Tonne Novice

- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Prepare the mini forward tipping dumper for use & operate safely & efficiently
- Attachments set correctly ready for operation
- Environmental considerations
- Storage & transport of forward tipping mini dumper / implements / attachments
- Carry out all end of shift & shut down procedures
